I’d say the food was fine, nothing special honestly. There are plenty of restaurants in Kyoto who’d be more than willing to serve you authentic Indian food and make sure you’re being provided the hospitality that you signed up for. If I’m spending a few bucks, I expect to have a pleasant experience and to be treated with a little bit of respect and kindness but sadly the staff working at this place is oblivious to that. Never going back and would recommend you don’t either.
Very expensive set meal in the evening for a quite tasteless food. Staff is nice though, but would not recommend.
Thought taste would be like Indian, but it was not upto the expectation. Though the food was good to eat !
Great food, the spices are so fresh tasting and well chosen. Totally worth the price.
Fantastic food. One of the best Tandoori roti’s I have had (being an Indian finding something like this in Japan surprises me). The paneer curries were yummy and flavors were on point(Indian standard). plenty of options for Vegan and vegetarian + friendly staff
We had dinner here this evening. The fried fish was excellent. The host was very social and accommodating. The ambience is relaxed and not rushed. The curries we ordered were very very good. We would highly recommend this place for Indian food.
Not much of south Indian food... Just Dosa s.. But they were good ! Loved Salted Lassi
A little bit spicy, but its a nice place for someone who likes spicy food. Personally i liked it. Their galic nan has thin sliced big chunks of galic which was great tasting. Its a little bit on mid to higher side for Indian cuisine compared to similar indian cuisines, but its in the center of kyoto so expect nothing less. It did not open exactly at 17:00, opend more like 10 minutes late, we were waiting outside until it opened. It open during lunch and closes then open again during dinner hours.
Excellent food and service
Wonderful people wonderful location and wonderful service. Unfortunately the rates of the food was not authentic specifically the paneer masala dish and the vege Biryani. Nice overall experience but the food needs a bit of work.
Excellent Indian food! The staff were very friendly (the owner was particularly charming). The food is authentic and delicious. There were heaps of options on the menu, including lots and lots of vegetarian choices. We had roti, naan, eggplant curry, and a pea and cauliflower curry. All were really nice, but can especially recommend the pea and cauliflower curry.
Very good tomato soup.. Definitely better than most of the Indian restaurants that operate in Kyoto
No free Nan at lunch. Nan okawari at lunch time is the standard for me here in Japan The rest is just average, nothing special. About curry, the nepaly restaurant Mayur (next here) has better taste and much more flavor for me. Ah... And the salad was only onions, not good.
Very good Indian restaurant!
Kerala is the best Indian place in Kyoto by a ways. There are other decent options but none come close in terms of quality and value. The lunch sets are balanced with delicious soup and the meat curry lunch is under ¥1000. You can chose roti instead of nan as well. Full curries are supurb with Kyoto choices as well as classic ones. The owner will take care of you and make sure you get what you need if you have special dietary needs. The food is uniformly good. The location is excellent, just steps from Sanjo shopping street. Highly recommend from a Kyoto local.
The food there was amazing. We have been to many Indian restaurants before, but this was one of the best places we've been to. You have to try this out I'd you feel like eating Indian cuisine while in Kyoto.
Perfect indian food, well made cooked food, very tasty and smooth, and the tea is nice :) will visit again for sure!!
Very high quality and incredible service.Lo recomendamos 100% Nam bread is great.Price /quality ratio very good but not cheap
LOVE LOVE LOVE THIS RESTAURANT! One of the best Indian restaurants I've ever been to in Japan. The food was so authentic! The staff and manager are also extremely kind and very welcoming! Recommend the Mutton Biryani, Raita and Chicken Samosa aswell as Dosa! Will definitely visit again!
Good Food, Nice Ambience, Friendly people
Authentic Indian restaurant in Kyoto. We went as a couple and are vegetarian and had plenty of options. English menu available and staff spoke good English. Food was delicious, we ordered far too much but it was all worth it!
They have created delicious black sesame nan and tofu curry that anyone will greatly enjoy! We did!
Reliable Indian food in a quiet, attractive setting. Restaurant is on second floor. English menu available and the owner speaks excellent English.
Excellent food, great service. The Keema naan is amazing!
Friendly staff and considerate service! They also offer vegetarian options here! We loved the food and enjoyed our reunion with friends here!
5 stars all the way. After being rejected from a few other restaurants for not having a reservation we wound up here and were extremely pleased with our meal. I had the murgh tikka masala and my wife got the mutton vindaloo and both were great. The sauces were really the star of the show and the naan was perfectly cooked to accompany the curries. The price was about average for the area. Overall we had a great meal and would happily come back again for more!
Great authentic food. The hotel owner is very nice lady. Coconut ice cream is recommended
Delicious and sporting restaurant owner.
I ordered for Chef's special Kerala biryani... It was dry and it came with no raita. The biryani was very dry and not spicy at all. Overload of dryfruits.
Great Indian food, with many vegetarian options
Friendly staff and very interesting menu, including lots of items we don't have in UK Indians. Both meat eaters and vegetarians are well catered for, and I highly recommend the garlic naan and Chana Masala.
Amazing Indian food with good vegetarian options
Really good tasty Indian food. Service is quick and excellent. Highly recommended
Excellent food (North and South Indian), very nice decor, and friendly staff. The owner Mahesh was extremely kind and attentive. Would highly recommend!!
Delicious Indian meals ( host even made 2 dishes for us - when we enquired- that were not on the menu !!!) Great waiting staff and reasonable prices. Highly recommended
Delightful interior, busy restaurant, we had to wait 15 minutes before our order was taken and then 45 minutes for our order to arrive. There were only two people serving and seemed on the run all the time. Food when it arrived was delicious and worth the wait.
Dosa is available only for dinner i.e after 5pm
Been around for over 3 decades in Kyoto. Good Indian food in Japan was a revelation and they have some nicely priced sets. Tomato soup was quite nice!
Excellent food, vegetarian options available. Nice people, but owner could be a little more pleasant. Mushroom Theeyal(?) was good.
Horrible place to go, they try to act smart and horrible service!!They want to serve us like Japanese restaurants one person one order but don’t even respect like Japanese!!
Wonderful Indian food in Kyoto. Regularly visit it now for special occasions. Especially recommend the masala dosa and spinach curry.
Everything is great; service and food are impeccable. One of the best values in the city. I recommend the tandoor chicken and the cheese in tomato sauce along with an order of herb naan. The bread is crispy with lots of stretch, as should be.
Authentic Indian food in Kyoto. Specially Masala Dosa, it was awesome.
Food is Good but please don't expect folks here to be anywhere near friendly like in most other Indian places.. The guy who's a spitting image of typical Indian guy assumes he's Japanese which unfortunately just doesn't suit him.. he'll be extremely rude so be careful of that.. the food is fine.. relatively Indian.. but don't go there if your looking for a quick meal or to quench a hungry stomach.. He'll ensure you become angry before your first morsel!
Food was okay, have had superior curries in Japan recently but nothing too much to criticise in regard to this. Service was lacking for me though - my drink was cleared from the table with a good amount still left in the glass; a waiter was somewhat rude to a nearby table stating the food choices would be boring if they chose the same curry at a large table; also stated that they couldn’t have naan as requested as ‘it didn’t go with the style’ and rice was what suited the southern indian dish (naan should only be had with northern Indian curries as per the waiter). Wouldn’t be rushing back here sadly given the lack of warm hospitality.
Could have been a 5.Arrived and were seated promptly the chap who served us was rather short and borderline rude. Either he was flustered as the place was jammed packed but regardless this had a knock-on effect as drinks service was slow and our meal took over an hour. But boy was it worth it.The chicken tikka masala was outstanding. Just hot enough with a garlic nan bread. Wifes curry was equally as tasty. Best curry we have tasted outside of the UK.
If you like Indian food (geared to the Japanese tongue) this won't disappoint! They have cheap lunch sets so your wallet won't cry.
We were looking for something different to Japanese and found this Indian which caters for our vegan needs. English menu and speaking staff were great and the food was delicious
I cant review it because we were turned away due to lack of reservation so i assume its super good but the nepalese restaurant next door was just amazing food was reallike i would expect from an authentic indian restaurant thant knows how to cook indian dishes
Good Ambience, Food and Service!!Tandoori chicken is the best here.Better than most of Indian Restaurants in Kyoto! Costly but should be tried!!
